| I remembered a dream from last night |

| | okay | ] | It was late at night, and for some reason, I didn't have my car with me. So, I stopped into a car dealership, and was looking around for a new car. Then I found this car that I wanted (and it was a small car, a lot like the one I already drive). I think it was a Mitsubishi. So, I was like, "Yeah, I want this car", and I bought it, and was all happy with my purchase. So then I get home, and it's day so I can see really well, and when I look at the car, there'll all sorts of shit that makes it look like crap. There are all sorts of rusted areas, and spots were the color has been bleached out and turned to this crumbly white shit, and the car no longer has power like it used to. So then I had a bad case of buyer's remorse.
That's about all the dream I remember. I maybe would've been able to remember more, but I just now recalled this dream a few hours after I woke up.
On the dental front -- front crown seems better but not fully correct, it's still sore all the time. I really think that I want to buy a replacement crown from my new dentist. I really hate this one, it's given me nothing but pain. I think the filling on #14 is too high, because it's still giving me some pain, but maybe it'll go away after I get the temp crown off. I guess I will know after Wednesday. Last night was the second night that I woke up with #14 and #19 hurting, and I had to take some ibuprofen to go back to bed again... oh well.
I got my ballot in the mail today. I'm still not sure who I'm going to vote for. Maybe I'll just vote libertarian for every race, and flip a coin for the rest. Actually, I do know a few things that I'll vote for, one of them being the proposition to raise money to repair our streets. I like how now the city puts up billboards which tell you how much each project costs, and if it was on-time and on-schedule. I'll prolly vote for the slot-machine thing, because that will raise government income without taxing anything new for me. I don't really mind 'electronic scratch machines' and I don't think that the 'horror' that the opponents of the measure say'll happen. I'm not sure about this I297 with the radioactive waste. I don't see what good it gives us, but it doesn't cost any money either. Charter schools, I'm still weighing the pros and cons in my mind. It's nice to know that I have a say in these things now, so I guess it's worth the effort deciding on them.
I guess that ends my saturday morning rant... |

| Oopps.. promised an update yesterday |
[Oct. 15th, 2004|08:44 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | blah | ] | So, I went to the dentist yesterday.
Got a onlay prep done, and a filling done. Worked out pretty well. I've noticed, during my experience in the chair, that certain teeth get numb much easier than other teeth. These teeth got numb exceptionally well. I got a choice between gold and tooth colored for my onlay, and I chose gold. because they said that it was the best (aside from not looking very toothy). There was a bit of post-operative sensitivity after the anesthetic had worn off, but nothing big.
Also, at this same appointment, I had my other crown adjusted. It felt great, but then later on in the day it felt not so great. It seems this crown is cursed! Adjust, feels good, wait until evening and it feels like crap! Go to bed, wake up, feels good again. It's driving me batty. I'm torn as to call them on this. I know the dentist isn't in today (he's in Las Vegas, the bastard). On the other hand, I did pay for the adjustment, it would be nice if it was correct. It just seems nuts that the damn thing feels different. I don't want to take more time off work either.
On this subject, I had an odd dream last night. I woke up, and this tooth (the same one with this bothersome crown) was hanging loose, and I pulled it out. And I was like 'shit! this is bad' and put it back in, and then I was like, calling dentists trying to get it fixed and nobody would help me out. I don't clearly remember the dream after that. I do remember it a dream that seemed 100% real. It was so real, that I was actually suprised that I had my tooth when I woke up this morning! I'm not big into psychoanalizing, but I'm sure that Freud would have a reason for this dream, something about my childhood or whatnot. I call it too much tooth on the mind on going to sleep. |

| Update! |
[Sep. 24th, 2004|04:57 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | crappy | ] | Man, it's been a while since I put my last update in here... I sorta forgot about you, blog.
What has been done?
Rolf... I haven't heard him for a while.. I think he was quite silently fired. We did get a new coworker, Don. He's a pretty bright guy, and seems to have a good amount of experience programming databases. He's quite easy to get along with too. I think he will be a valuable addition to the team.
Reguarding the crown, after having it in my mouth for a month, I'm diasppointed. I think that I definately could have had a better job done, and that the bite on it still isn't correct. It bothers me, but I have taken steps to remedy the situation. The first step was, find a new dentist. After doing a lot of searching on the web, I think I've found a very good one. He's out in the valley, but highly qualified. He won 'Dentist of the Year' for Washington's Academy of General Dentistry. He -teaches- courses to other practicing dentists on various subjects to enhance their work. Also, I've seen the work he has done on other people (it would be hard to miss it, he's got pictures plastered all over his office, and it looks great!
So, I went and scheduled a new patient appointment with him. They took some x-rays, and did a full mouth examination. Then, the next week, I got a filling from him on a tooth that had been very sensitive to cold. The appointment went well, and I'm very happy with the work that he has done. So, I went in Wednesday to get a treatment plan for all the things that he saw that needed fixed. Final result: 8 fillings, and a crown: 3,000. That's a bit steep for me to pay out all at once, but he accepts this 'Dental Fee Plan' thing where you can get a loan for your dental work, so I applied for that. Called up today, my application has been denied. Oh well, means I pay it as I go, I guess. My first little 'chunk' is just two fillings, the crown and an adjustment on my other crown to get into occlusion (bite) better (did I mention one of his main things he lectures on is occlusion?). Appointment is Oct 15 (when I have the money, lolz).
On other topics not in that, he said I had GERD which was causing damage to my teeth, so I've scheduled an appointment with my doctor so that we can try to get that solved, as he emphasised that long-term, that would be the most detremental thing to my teeth. Also, he was concerned that there may be decay under the crown I have. I can't really afford to get it done right now, but if all the other work he does looks good, and goes well, I may just buy it anyway. I bet he would do a better cosmetic job anyway.
Guess that's it for now! More updates later! |

| friday update |
[Aug. 27th, 2004|06:20 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | grumpy | ] | What a crap day. My boss leaves early to go camping. I get stuck doing an install with a customer, who shows up at 4:30, which wouldn't be that bad if I didn't know that it was going to take an hour.
On a positive note, I think this crown is finally in the correct shape for my tooth. He had to modify the opposing tooth though, which I wasn't really pleased with... but at least it seems to be working. I feel bad because I showed up like 30 minutes late to the appointment to get it fitting correctly. I had set my alarm clock, but I think I woke up and turned it off, or perhaps didn't turn it on. Anyway, I woke up, and my clock (which is a good 20 minutes early) said I was 20 minutes late. Oh well.. it could be worse.
I need to call them to schedule a prophy (cleaning), but I don't really want to call them after I showed up late the previous time. I bet they hate me for missing appointments and being late and shit. I'll get around to it.... maybe.
Also on a positive note, my new coworker, Rolf, left early today. I don't know why. I did not ask why. But it was nice having him gone. Very much a calmer place the office was. |

[Aug. 21st, 2004|04:04 am] |
This week has not been good.
First off, my crown still isn't properly adjusted, and my dentist has been gone all week. Second off, my new coworker is exceptionally annoying.
I've been thinking about taking a vacation to Vancouver, BC next month... maybe...
I guess that's it. |

| Update, as promised |
[Aug. 11th, 2004|09:22 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | happy | ] | So, woke up quite early this morning, around 6am, because I was very nervious about going to the dentist. Went to the dentist, got the new crown installed. Interesting experience getting the crown installed. First off, normally they don't give anesthetic for a crown placement, but my tooth had been very irritated, so I got one shot (in comparison, I got about 3 or 4 when the crown was prepared). It helped a little bit, but wore off a lot in about 10 minutes. while my crown was exposed, it was extremely sensitive. I had to breath through my nose, because the cold air going against the tooth stung quite a bit. So after adjusting the bite (which took quite a while, I wonder why that was) and wedging the crown on and off my tooth many many times, the dentist finally presented me with a mirror to check it out before he installed it with cement. It looked good, so it got cemented in.
So far, I've been quite pleased with the new crown, both in form and function. I had some hard tacos tonight without any difficulty, or sensitivity. The color match is dead-on too. Except for the fact the tooth is a bit opaque, it looks wonderful. I think the lab did a good job of matching the shape so that it blended in really well. It's got that same sorta square look my teeth have. Interestingly, the back of the teeth don't have porcelain covering them, so the metal shows through. Luckly it's nearly impossible to even look at that side once it's in my mouth (I tried, but I think I would need a dental mirror to do so).
It was my coworker's birthday today too. We went out at work for lunch because of that. He didn't seem to pleased that we knew it was his birthday, however. Some people are like that, and I can respect it. I didn't realize he was so young. He's only 20! Lunch was ok, except the new crown in my mouth is taking a bit to get used to. I think I may have to go in to get it trimmed down a bit.
I moved my desk today, to the new office space too. It was an interesting move. It's very nice in the new office because the phones aren't hooked up yet.
Oh, and as I go, I have a mental image of the day for you all. As I was walking back from lunch, I saw a man park in the parking lot of Holly-Mason. He was driving an expensive motorcycle, listening to older rap, and had the begginings of male pattern baldness. Can we say, mid-life crisis? |

| | lethargic | ] | So, lets see what's new.
My appt to get my temporary crown replaced with the final one was pushed back to Wednesday. I'm not sure why. I just got a phone call in the morning and they told me this would be the case. I'm guessing either they had scheduling issues, or that the dental lab didn't deliver the goods on time. Oh well, I guess that means I just have another two days with this nasty temp.
I bought Doom 3, which is awesome except for the fact it runs like total shit on my computer. I think it's time for an upgrade. The nice thing about upgrading is, my mom has had an Emachines computer for a while now; it's an underpowered Celeron based system. If I buy a new motherboard, cpu, and ram, I can buy a case locally, and give my computer to her. It's not the greatest machine, but since she mostly just browses the web, and does email, and stuff like that, that it should meet her needs nicely. In fact, I think I WILL do that.
Went out for my friend's 21 bday yesterday. Went out to the bars. Pretty good times. There was a bit of delay in getting these plans started, because my car battery died. However, I hooked up a trickle charger too it, and in about an hour I had enough power to start up and get going, after which I took the LONG way to the destination, in order to give the alternator time to recharge the battery. The power level seemed to be good when I drove home today, so it should be all good now.
uh... and I think that's everything. Next expected update wednesday after my dental appointment. |

[Jul. 27th, 2004|01:19 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | full | ] | I'm sitting at work enjoying a cup of soup, so I figured I'd update my blog.
I got a crown prep for my tooth yesterday. A filling had broke in it, and apperantly it wasn't going to hold up for very long if there was other one placed, so my dentist recommended a crown. It wasn't too bad during the procedure, mainly because I paid for nitrous oxide. Actually, I only hate the shots, the nitrous during the drilling was just for my own enjoyment. It took a little while, but only because they had to take a bunch of impressions and stuff. Right now on my tooth, I have a provisional crown, that was premanufactured. It's not very good looking. It kinda matches the color of my teeth, but it feels all wrong, and is the wrong shape. Also, it's completely opaque, which makes it look very fake. It also feels like plastic on the tongue. Oh, and I can't use it for biting. Which means that I have to use a knife and fork on just about everything, which is why I think I'm going to stick to soup for lunch for a while.
Lets see... I got to Mu in Illusion of Gaia, it's pretty hard however. I remember that place being pretty hard, so I'm not too worried. It seems my xbox gets far more use as an emulator than it does as an xbox, but that's OK -- it's the reason I got a modchip. Anyway, my soup is gone, so I'm out until laterz. |

| Weekend update! |

| [ | mood |
| | high | ] | Lets see... what's been up?
Went to the dentist last week, because one of my fillings broke. Said I have to get a crown; the appointment is on monday. I'm quite apprehensive about this. This is mainly due to the fact that there was a two hour slot scheduled for me. Crowns don't take that much time to fit, so something must be up that I don't know about. I'll talk to them when I get to the appointment.
I got my modchip in the mail on Friday (actually, it had been delivered a few days ago, but the wind blew the package around to the side of the house). Today I installed it and did some testing, it seems to work just fine. The only problems I've had are with burning dvds, but I've been able to get software on it via FTP with 0 problems. I was suprised at how easy it was to mod it. Just solder in 1 pin header, and 1 wire. Altho, the one of the pins was REALLY difficult to solder, and the wire, was an absolute bitch.
And ahh.. I guess that's it |

| Thursday update! |
[Jul. 15th, 2004|08:30 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | hot | ] | Well then, I haven't updated for a bit, and I'm bored.
What's new? Tried a new whiskey, Cutty Sark, on recomendation of a friend. Very light scotch, very nice. Drank a bit too much, about 4/5ths of a pint, and ended up with a nasty headache the next day. The nice thing about getting a hangover of that level, is that ibuprofen will remove most of the symptoms, and it makes me stop drinking for about a week for some reason. It's odd....
Got an X-Box. Came with Soul Calibur 2, and Tetris, and Medal of Honor Frontline (which didn't work until i resurfaced the dvd twice using my nifty dvd scatch remover thinger). Bought Enter the Matrix for 7 bux (rip off), and Morrowind (Friend said it was good and it was only 20 bux).
Morrowind was ok, but it's just not keeping my attention. This I think is not due to the story, but the HORRIBLE control. I cannot figure out how anybody can play a fps style control system with a gamepad. It SORTA works with the two analogue sticks, but not really. I always end up getting lost and looking at the floor or the sky or something. I think once I get the skill to walk around without trouble, I'll like it a lot more. Also, I don't enjoy the slowdown that I've seen once or twice, and the loading times inbetween areas. But what I do enjoy is the excellent plot, and foreshadowing that I'm already seeing so early in the game. It's nice to see that I have a fairly diverse path that I can follow. I'll report up on it later on.
I also got a modchip for it. It's the Xenium ICE modchip, which apperantly is in the 4th generation of modchips. It looks pretty simple to install, except for one wire. I have a solderless connector I can use, but I think when it gets down to it I'll either use a pin header or quick-solder solution. The pin header install requires you to remove the whole motherboard, but I'm confident that it will be much more flexable. The quick solder method is pretty cool because there is only one wire. Apperantly you just line up the modchip on the mobo and just solder it in place, then add a wire.
Backup games aren't my thing really (besides I hate most of them) so I think I'll be using it mainly to play mad emulators on my X-Box. We'll see what it's like once I acually get it installed before I start going off on how I hate games in more detail. Maybe they will be cool when you pirate them? |

| Happy 4th of July! |
[Jul. 4th, 2004|05:47 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | tired | ] | I just woke up about 30 minutes ago, and I figured since I wasn't doing much else that I should update this blog.
As has been the usual for a while, I have a new whiskey to talk about. I went to the liquor store the other day, and while looking over the fine selection of bourbon I noticed that the Evan Williams single barrel was on sale. Now, I was initially skeptical about drinking this, because it's just an older bottling of what is a decidedly low cost bourbon, but I went for it anyway. It had many features that were attractive other than it's price. Instead of the normal plastic covering, it was sealed in wax. It was corked instead of a having a screw on cap. But what sealed the deal for me, was the fact that handwritten on the label was the date of barreling, the barrel number, and the date it was bottled. Maybe it was just a gimmick, but it was one I easily fell for.
As for the whiskey itself? Excellent. I almost felt it a shame to put ice into this, as its flavor was most excellent. It was smooth, with a great balance of flavor, full of vanilla and the natural sweetness of bourbon. I think the other people who frequented that store also realized this, as when I went back to get some more alcohol yesterday for today and tomorrow, they were completely out of stock of it.
Speaking of which, the guy in front of me in the line at the liquor store had two items: a bottle of Smirnoff vodka, and a bottle of Johnnie Walker Red Label. The checker was like 'So, the Johnnie Walker is for you, eh?' to which he replied 'Oh, this is actually for my office'. I should have said that if his office was paying for it, that he should have gotten the black label instead. However, something tells me that he was planning on drinking the vodka, which is a shame if you could actually get your boss to buy you good scotch. |

| [ | mood |
| | full | ] | Eh, don't want to get back to work immediatly, so I'm updating my blog.
Judging from these past few posts, my blog is turning into whiskey review, which doesn't bother me that much.
Speaking of which, tried a new whiskey yesterday -- Teacher's Highland Cream blended Scotch. Nice tasting, very creamy, good smokeyness like a scotch should have. My only problem with it is it could be a tad bit smoother, but it is by no means harsh. I've still got the bulk of the bottle left, so maybe I'll update this later with it's staying power. I should mention here, that I've had this particular whiskey once before, when I just started drinking, and I hated it. It didn't taste good to me straight, and it didn't taste good to me with coke. This either means I've come to appriciate whiskey, or I've killed all my taste buds that would give me any problems.
It would be nice if they sold more brands of whiskey in the smaller, 375ml containers so I can try them out. It takes me 3 to 6 days of drinking to finish a 5th, which makes the process very slow going. And bars, the other alternative, never have a wide selection -- but are a good place to try the really expensive liquor I don't want to pay for a bottle of.
Anyway, my mini-break is done -- it's work time. |

| | lethargic | ] | Lets see, recent events to most past this time.
Just called up the apartment building mentioned before, they didn't have any available units, but I'm looking at another place now, in a nicer part of Brown's Addition.
Tried two new whiskeys during the past week. The first is Jim Beam Black. This whiskey is smooth, and priced decently, and makes a good drink. However, it to me seems a bit flavorless. It has a well balanced flavor, but it could definatly be stronger. The other whiskey is Jack Daniel's Single Barrel. This is a great Tennessee whiskey, easy to drink and very flavorfull. I only had one of them at the bar, but I don't think you would get tired of the taste too quickly. The only real problem with this whiskey is it's great expense. It's of comparatble quality to George Dickel no 12 ($18), but is 40 dollars a 1/5th! This makes it suitable only for drinking at bars, where the drinks are already incredibly expensive.
I guess I better get back to work, come at ya laterz! |

| Morning update |
[Jun. 25th, 2004|07:34 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | tired | ] | Had a very hard time sleeping last night, partially due to the fact that I took a nap after work.
About 4:30 or so the sun started comming up, so I figured it was best just to give up on sleep at that point and at least get a head start on the day.
Went out for a walk, as the sun was comming up which was pretty nice. On the way home I noticed the donut shop had opened between when I passed it the first time and when I got back to it, so I stopped by and had a donut and some coffee. The donuts were still hot from being cooked, and melted in the mouth. I think I freaked out the people who work there, however, cuz they gave me some odd looks. Maybe they just weren't used to somebody who wasn't all old sitting down and enjoying some coffee and a donut.
I've also been pondering a bit about getting an apartment some more. I contacted this place using this online website, but they never replied. The place I'm looking at is called the Chateaux. If you've ever been on washington just north of the river, you've seen this apartment building. It's the tall twin buildings that aren't hotels just north of the river. I always had assumed that they were out of my price range, but according to their own advertising, they look very reasonably priced. Additionally, they are a literal walk in the park away from downtown, and every apartment has a balcony. This means that depending on your location you could see riverfront part. or the arena, or that office complex north of it, or whatewer is east of it (I think basically just division). They say a credit screening is required, but I'm hoping that will not be a problem.
Oh well, that's enough for this vintage from the digital whinery. |

| The joys of boredom |
[Jun. 19th, 2004|06:25 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | blank | ] | Been a while since my last update? Reason: my life is boring. Things that have happened recently:
Tried two new whiskeys, George Dickel no. 12, and Maker's Mark. Both are fine whiskeys suitable for drinking however you take your whiskey. The Maker's Mark has a unique finish that I can't describe at all. George Dickel is a solid deal, and incredibly smooth.
I went out to the bar the other day for some electronic music night at a shitty bar in Post Falls. I learned there that if you tip the bartender well, your second whiskey will have 3 times the whiskey the first one did, which is quite interesting when you are drinking whiskey on the rocks and your second drink comes in much larger glass. Too bad the bar was a hole with a sound system that made any high pitches sound awful, in addition to the 15 minute drive to get there, and poor selection of whiskey. Oh, and the moron bar owner on a microphone talking about the vodka/redbull drink special (gag!), and talking about 'rave' thursdays with techno, trance, rave (btw, all the djs played house or dnb).
In other news, I can't stand being around anybody in my house. I am fed up with every single person who lives there. I really do need to find my own place to live. The last time I tried to do that, they wanted a 300 dollar deposit, a 30 bux application fee, and my paycheck stubs. This was all good, except the paycheck stubs which I don't have and cannot get. When I asked my boss for this, he gave me an excel spreadsheet detailing what I made, but that doesn't exactly make for convincing proof of employement, so I never went back with the application. Not to mention that one of the requirements was '6 mo rental history' which I was hopping I wouldn't need considering I made over 3 times rent in an average paycheck, twice monthly. I think I'll prolly start looking at places in Brown's Addition because if crackheads can get apartments there, then as a computer programmer I should be able to.
Right now I'm at work, because I couldn't think of anywhere else I wanted to be today. It has it's advantages, being air conditioned and the elevator is locked out meaning that I'm the only person on the floor. Too bad I can't really do anything that fun here except for use the computer. I've still got a half bottle of George Dickel to finish, but I don't want to even BE at my house, let alone drink there, and I don't want the expense or the shame of sitting at a bar staring down a glass filled with intoxicating spirits, alone, with only ice and my tears as a mixer.
Oh well, I guess that's enough digital whining for today.... |

| | grumpy | ] | So, I encountered an interesting problem today. I go to buy some coffee down at the local coffee shop, and my card is denied! I check my bank account and it reads that I have quite the bit of money. So, I go to the ATM and try to remove cash -- get the same error.
Slightley annoyed, I go down to the bank (which is directly below the ATM) and asked 'What's up', and the teller tells me that it's because my card has EXTREMELY minor damage on the magnetic strip. Now, I know about the magnetic strip on cards, and how durable it is. Unless you use a magnet, it's nearly impossible to screw up. I've put checkcards bare in my pocket through the washer AND dryer, to be left with a distored bent up card (which still worked). Additionally, almost all card readers can distingish between 'card unverified, and 'card denied.' I did not get card unverified, I get card denied!
Also, I'm pretty sure that it's not a bank-wide issue, because my credit card (from the same bank) works just fine.
Fucking lying ass tellers! |

| [ | mood |
| | working | ] | I've not updated this for a while. Guess it's because there really hasn't been too much going on.
But, I did have something happen recently, and (more importantly) I'm getting quite bored of what I'm doing at work and need a break to clear my head.
Sunday, the pipe connecting the catalytic converter in my car to the muffler, decided that it was going to rust completely through. So, I figure I'll just replace that peice of pipe, and get to working on it. After removing the muffler, and trying for about an hour to remove the old muffler clamps from it, I think to myself 'this muffler is rusted through as well, I shouldn't put it back on." Luckily, I happened to have another muffler that I had won at a car show about a year or two ago. So, I go to the store, buy some peices to try to connect it together (the pipe size of the muffler I had and my current system were different) and try to put it together without any success.
Well, by this time, time had run out on Sunday, so I figured I'd just bring it to a muffler shop, and have THEM put it all together. So I take it to the shop, and they replace the entire pipe from the catalytic converter, and weld the muffler on, and all is good.
Hrm... that story was kinda boring.
Oh well, I'm going to try to make note to update this more often. Hopefully I'll have more interesting content next time. |

| | cheerful | ] | So, I got my hard drive in the mail today. It seems to have all my shit that I used to have on it... which is awesome.
I'm celebrating this with some margaritas. Before I was 21, I had margaritas before, but they were nothing like this one. The ones I had before were just Jose Cuervo and margarita mix, blended with ice. This is in fact, not at all like a real Margarita. A real one is tequila, triple sec, and half-lemon, half-lime juice, shaken with ice and strained into a cocktail glass. This is MUCH better tasting than margarita mix, cheap tequila and ice. I don't even figure how they sell that stuff, considering the real thing tastes nothing like the mix. Another missing thing was the salt rim. Maybe it's just me, but the small amount of salt you get from the salted rim makes this drink even better.
I should try to make more drinks. I got a cocktail shaker, and some cocktail glasses, so except for the liquor, i'm pretty much set for 'short' drinks. I really do want to invest in some better barware. The cocktail shaker makes my life so much easier--I imagine other barware would do the same. I've got some pretty interesting cocktail glasses. Instead of having a stem, it just has a bulb at the bottom, making it much shorter. I want to see if I can be distinctive in my other glasess too.
Anyway, I should drink this before it becomes warm! |

| not too many updates as of late |

| | bored | ] | prolly because the program I use to update my blog is on the failed hard drive, and I don't really like updating it at work.
On the subject of my failed hard drive, they were able to get data off of it, but not use the original drive to send it back to me. I had a canadian company send them a new hard drive. It was actually a bit of effort to find a company that would take an American buying a hard drive, and having it shipped within Canada. I not only had to pay Canadian sales tax ( 15%! ), but I also had to fax them a signed email, AND my driver's license. Luckily, the company I picked was only 22 miles away from the data recovery service, so once those things were settled, it was recieved overnight (not bad for only 15 CAN for shipping). The data recovery service said that if they complete the clone today, they will ship the hard drive tomorrow. Seeing as it took over the weekend to get the hard drive to them, I can expect similar times on return.
I'm sorta dissapointed with the pricing on some of the non-data recovery services. Cloning a hard drive costs 100 dollars! Now, mind you, they did display this pricing upfront, so I can't complain that much. Also, they wanted to charge 200 dollars to buy a hard drive for me, but I do understand that they aren't in the business of selling hard drives, and it was not a big deal at all to get one to them, even if I never saw the drive they got. Shipping however, is dead on -- it cost me 58 to ship to them, and they are charging an even 60 to ship it back. Two dollars for supplies/packing is completely reasonable, in my eyes. They also have a policy of passing on the fees that paypal charges them for money transfer. This was also stated upfront, and I have no problems with it. |
